National Low Income Housing Coalition Raises Concerns Over President Trump's Executive Orders

They believe these rules could make it much harder for people in the U.S. to find homes they can afford.
The group explained that these orders could hurt efforts to make housing fair for everyone, weaken the Department of Housing and Urban Development (often called HUD), and put people who are already having a tough time at even more risk.

They also said these actions could hurt attempts by states and local communities to help homeless people, making things worse for folks who are already struggling to pay rent.
Right now, over 10 million families in the U.S. spend more than half their income just on housing. According to the coalition, HUD doesn't have enough resources as it is.
They're worried that new rules stopping HUD from hiring more people will slow down the department's work in helping communities with their housing problems.
Also, ending programs focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion, and targeting undocumented immigrants could take away money from groups that provide housing and services, hurting their ability to help those in need.
